Antifouling Paint Eradicator

Removing old antifouling paint isn't the most fun task.

Removing old antifouling paint isn't the most fun task. It usually involves toxic chemicals and hours of messy sanding; however, you can simplify the task with Pettit's Bio-Blast (79.99, www.pettitpaint.com), which removes antifouling paint in a single application. Apply it to the hull with a paintbrush or airless sprayer. As it penetrates the paint layers, it lifts them from the surface, where they can be easily removed with a metal scraper. Bio-Blast replaces chemical strippers but won't damage the gelcoat. According to Pettit, it works equally well at removing varnishes, lacquers and marine enamels.
