Georgia Updates Boat Registration System
by Jennifer Dennard
Boaters in the state of Georgia will now be able to register boats and purchase licenses more
easily, thanks to recent upgrades made by the Georgia Department of Natural Resources’ (DNR’s)
Wildlife Resources Division. The real-time, Web-based license and boat registration system will be
available at the end of this summer. A similar hunting and fishing licensing system will be
available in the fall.
Customers will now be able to purchases licenses over the Internet, by telephone or mail, or
by visiting their local DNR office. A convenience fee will be applied to transactions of
recreational licenses such as lifetime licenses, honorary licenses and boat registrations.
Boat registrations will include an $8 fee for Internet transactions and applications
submitted via mail, and a $10 fee for telephone transactions.
