Since just about everybody has a pair of sunglasses, SunCepts has come up with hides sunglassskin ($9.99), which goes from retaining cord to case to cleaning cloth in the blink of an eye. Just like some of the other popular neck straps, you slip the pointy ends of your shades into the receiving end of the hides. The difference comes when you're ready to take the glasses off. Just peel out the strap, and it becomes a snug-fitting case. The microfiber cloth won't scratch the lens, so you never have to peer around an errant thumbprint. That's the basic model, which is easy to use, and gives you a comfortable cushion between your ear and head. Boaters, however, will want to opt for hides pefd ($14.99), which stands for personal eyewear floatation device. While you lose the cleaning cloth function, the strap and case will be easy to retrieve if dropped overboard. Hides are available in 11 colors. - Steve Rosenberg
