Cobra, Raymarine Introduce VHF Radios

Cobra Electronics and Raymarine Inc. have introduced new handheld VHF radios with a number of new
features.
The MR HH125 handheld VHF radio from Cobra Electronics offers a backlit LCD and keypad,
automatic switch-off for extended battery life, and one or three watts of power for communication
over long and short distances. It’s also equipped with 10 NOAA weather channels, All Hazards alert
and rechargeable NiMH batteries.

Suitable for handheld use and storage in compact spaces, the MR HH125 may be used as the
primary radio on a small boat, or as a backup radio on a larger craft.
The Ray49 DSC VHF radio from Raymarine — the company’s most compact VHF radio to date — offers
NMEA 0183 output for chartplotter position polling, the ability to receive NOAA weather alerts, and
a Class D Digital Selective Calling (DSC) transceiver and distress key, enabling boaters to convey
boat ID, GPS position and time of distress in event of emergency.
Other Ray49 features include audio and remote microphone controls; rotary controls for
channel, volume, squelch and menu operation; and programmable scanning. A rear flush mount kit and
quick-access 16/9 key embedded within the handset are also offered.
