Baja, GM Team Up To Make Split Decision
by Jennifer Dennard
Baja Marine and General
Motors have partnered to create the 2008 Split Decision Poker Run Tour boat (a highly
customized 2008 Baja 40 Outlaw) and tow vehicle (a 2008 Chevrolet Kodiak pickup truck). The
pair will make stops at the Split Decision Poker Run Tour events in St. Petersburg, Daytona,
Jacksonville, Atlantic City, Chicago, Ontario, Fort Walton Beach and Sarasota, among other cities.
The tour will kick off March 28 in Sarasota/St. Petersburg, and run through early October.
The Split Decision 40 Outlaw features Mercury Racing’s twin 700-hp, 700 SCi engines, CNC
five-blade cleaver propellers, NXT1 drives and the SmartCraft VesselView Race Edition display.
Additional features include pressure-activated exhaust tips from Corsa Performance to reduce
high-end noise; instrumentation and electrical upgrades from Livorsi Marine; and a multifunctional
gauge from DataTach that displays GPS speed tachometer readings, compass headings and the ability
to execute propeller slip equations.
Custom graphics for the Split Decision 40 Outlaw focus on the opposite forces of fire and
ice.
The Chevy Kodiak truck, designed by Monroe Truck Equipment Inc., features a Duramax 6.6L
diesel engine that produces 330 hp and 620 pounds per feet of torque through an Allison 2350 HS
Series six-speed overdrive transmission, as well as a MTE Cab Air Ride Suspension on 22-inch
wheels.
