The 2000 Lexus LX 470 is loaded with luxury, complete with auto-matic climate control with a smog sensor, a driver's seat that adjusts to your favorite position at the touch of a button and an especially nifty little feature from Johnson Controls Inc. called HomeLink, a universal transceiver that lets you remotely operate your garage door, your gate, your home security system and even your house lights.

To smooth out the ride, there's what Lexus calls AVS (Adaptive Variable Suspension), a computer-controlled system that adjusts the shock absorbers' damping rates. The AVS uses sensors to monitor everything from wheel speed to braking and vertical body motion to adjust the shocks' firmness. On smooth roads you get a soft, cushy ride, while on rough terrain the shocks stiffen up. And for the low-rider-wannabes, the LX 470 even has an adjustable height control (AHC), which raises and lowers the vehicle as much as four inches, two inches above or below normal, at the touch of a button.
