Suzuki Gets Ready For ’09 With New Outboards
Suzuki Marine is looking ahead to a powerful boating season in 2009 with the development of four
new four-stroke outboard engines.
The new engines include the DF70, DF80 and DF90 — each equipped with a compact four-cylinder
Dual Overhead CAM (DOHC) powerhead with 91.7 cubic inches in displacement and four valves per
cylinder. Additional features include digital sequential electronic fuel injection, solid-state
ignition, offset drive shaft, a 2.59:1 final drive ratio, a maintenance-free self-adjusting timing
chain and a 30-amp alternator.
Suzuki's new DF90 engine
The DF90 is the smallest outboard in the 90hp category — nearly 3 inches shorter than Suzuki’l
l s previous model and nearly 9 inches shorter than comparable models — making it especially
suitable for use on boats with poling platforms. All three engines provide suitable power for
pontoon boats, flats boats, a variety of fiberglass and aluminum fishing boats, and small center
consoles.
In addition, the new DF100 is Suzuki’s first 100hp four-stroke on the market and the only
outboard in its class available in the United States. Available in 20- and 25-inch shafts, the
DF100 features a four-cylinder DOHC powerhead with four valves per cylinder, a digital multipoint
electronic fuel injection, and a water-cooled fuel rail and intake system.
