FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: April 26, 2005
New Houseboat Manufacturing Company Set To Debut In June 2005; SOMERSET, KY.
April 1, 2005
The Lexington, Ky.-based investment group that acquired Sumerset Houseboats in Somerset,
Ky., in 2003, has formed a new houseboat company American Waterways.
Tom Wylie, V. P for American Waterways stated, Our market research shows a strong opportunity
for a quality, NMMA Certified, mid-entry level houseboat. Bolster that with increased consumer
awareness of the benefits of houseboating and continued growth and development by the marina
industry, and you've got a winning concept.
American Waterways houseboats will be produced in Monticello, Ky., the self-titled Houseboat
Capital of the World. The houseboats will appeal to entry-level and mid-level boaters; those with
and without houseboat experience.
The American Waterways value proposition streamlines the houseboat purchase process, while
maintaining quality, safety and value, said Cary Wade, American Waterways Plant Manager. Many
buyers need reassurance that buying a houseboat is not going be an overwhelming process. The
experience of our manufacturing crew, coupled with the quality and value commitment American
Waterways brings to the table, provide the consumer with that assurance.
American Waterways houseboats anticipates employing up to 90+ individuals and participating
in the NMMA's Certification program and the NMMA's Customer Satisfaction Index (CSI) program.
Tom Wylie, V. P for American Waterways added, American Waterways represents the ideal
opportunity for families and individuals interested in houseboating to start enjoying the benefits
of that lifestyle.
