Boat Bunkers International has developed the Boat Bunker In-Water Mooring Station to help boat owners protect their vessels and control bottom fouling — a result of cleaning, scrapping and painting that leads to harmful chemicals seeping into marine environments.

The bunker is a securable inflatable area in which a boat floats while it’s moored. Each bunker is equipped with an inflation collar, undershield and gate. The undershield isolates water that comes into contact with the boat, prohibiting water flow, oxygen replenishment and growth of food sources, which in turn prevents growth of mussels, barnacles and other marine life that may cause damage to the boat’s hull. In addition, water inside the bunker may be treated to prevent growth of algae and weeds.

The bunker is easy to install, according to the company, and can be used on a mooring buoy, side dock or finger dock. The bunker is available in a range of shapes and sizes, and can be used with most outboards, I/Os, inboards and sailboats.
