Anglers Take The Pledge Through RBFF, State Of Arizona Partnership

By Jennifer Dennard

The Recreational Boating Fishing Foundation — a nonprofit organization whose goal is to increase recreational boating and angling participation — has partnered with Arizona’s Game and Fish Department to promote RBFF’s Anglers’ Legacy program.

The two-year-old program asks anglers to make a pledge to take one new person fishing each year. According to a recent RBFF survey, the program has garnered more than 40,000 pledges, which, according to the foundation, translates to a possible $4.8 million generated for the fishing industry, $6.6 million for the boating industry, and more than 84,000 fishing licenses sold.

Promotion efforts will include special events, such as the recent Arizona Game and Fish Department 2008 Outdoor Exposition where pledges were collected, and promotion of the program on the department’s website, located at www.gf.state.az.us.
