Doral Elite 235 br

First Impressions

The Elite 235, Doral's latest addition to its line of bowriders, aims to be a sport boat with cruiser hardware. Walking through the boat for the first time, the first feature that pops out is the head area with sink, which is located in front of the passenger console. It comes at the expense of a glove box, but that's a small price to pay for a head compartment — a nice feature on a boat of this size. Other notable features include the 8-inch recessed cleats and customized stainless-steel fittings, which add to the boat's upscale feel.

Elite 235The Elite 235 is an eye-catching boat, whether in the standard white upholstery or the optional cabriolet color, as is the test model. Inspired by the Cabriolet car, it gives the boat an ultra-luxury feel, but the upholstery can also get warm in a hurry, so you'll want to weigh both factors when deciding what to choose. The car theme is evident throughout, with unusual grab handles and unique storage compartments on both sides adding to the automotive feel.

The test boat is equipped with a 320-hp, 5.7L Volvo Penta GXI DP, and it pushes the Elite 235 through the choppy Canadian water to a top speed of about 50 mph. The boat handles well overall, although it takes a little bit of a pounding when the water gets rough. The cockpit area is comfy, with the driver getting a deluxe wood steering wheel and dash panel with full instrumentation, while passengers can stretch out in the U-shaped cockpit seat. The cockpit ski locker has a generous amount of storage space on a boat where the emphasis is heavily on appearance.
