Garmin has set out to prove you don't need a big fishfinder to catch big fish with its brand-new Fishfinder 400C, which features a unique 4-inch QVGA display. This easy-to-see and easy-to-use sounder combines high performance with a simple interface without requiring much space. It's available with a choice of dual beam or dual frequency transducers, so it's readily adaptable for both your freshwater and saltwater fishing needs. The 400-watt RMS dual-beam version offers a wide fishfinding cone and is suited for coverage in shallow waters, while the 500-watt RMS dual-frequency setup is suited for medium to deeper waters down to 1,500 feet. Both versions feature a crisp, bright display, plus UltraScroll for screen updates at live-action speeds. Built-in CANet connectivity enables sonar data to be shared with compatible chartplotter displays. Best of all, the 400C offers all these functions and more at a reasonable price. $342.85.
