Get rid of all the grime and grease that sneaks up on your boat or trailer with Zogics' CitraWipe degreaser hand wipes. Safety In A Hatch
Shell
Sometimes toddlers refuse to stay put, so as their guardian, you're forever on call to their every move. To give you an extra pair of eyes, particularly when you've turned your head for that split second, Terrapin Communications' Safety Turtle helps monitor little ones while they're boating or swimming, and during a recent day on the water with my friend's family, it did just that. This freshwater safety device comes in two designs, standard and extended range. Reaching signals up to 200 feet, the standard alarm system includes a base station ($170) that connects to an AC adapter located on your boat or in your house, and a turtle wristband ($79). My friend's niece has a tiny wrist, so for a snug fit, I had to adjust the band before locking it with a key. When she jumped into the water, the base station made a blaring noise that lasted until I dried off the band. If you're in a setting without AC power like we were, upgrading to the weatherproof carrying case and rechargeable battery pack combo ($142) or cigarette lighter adaptor cable ($26) is recommended. For longer distances in water, the extended range works up to 1,500 feet away. Safety Turtle comes in vibrant colors for kids and even collar bands for pets. (800) 368-8121, www.safetyturtle.com.
Suited and Booted
Keeping your feet dry while participating in watersports activities is nearly impossible, but Helly Hansen's Shorehike 2 Booties can help by providing comfort and safety. These slip-on, ankle-high boots are cushioned with two removable liners - LIFA Stay Dry technology and Helly Tech XP - to pull moisture away from your skin for a dry, comfortable feel and to add warmth in chilly conditions. Shorehike also features its W2 (Water-In-Water-Out) technology, draining water out of the bootie for additional relief and security while you're in or near water. It's footwear that's versatile and ready to tackle any weather conditions. Shorehike 2 Booties retail for $150. (800) 435-5901, www.hellyhansen.com.

The double-molded Pontoon Protectors cover the conical nose of the boat and include self-adhesive, waterproof strips for simple installation. They're sold in pairs, retailing for $19.99. Lobster Law
It's lobster season, and some state fish and game laws require that once lobsters are caught they must reach the minimum legal size (3.25 inches carapace length), using an approved gauge, or be returned to the water. If you don't have one, try the Gear Keeper® RT2 self-retracting tether from Hammerhead Industries Inc. The Gear Keeper attaches to your clothes, and the gauge extends up to 36 inches from where it's clipped on your body and retracts back when you're done measuring. The Gear Keeper retails for $19.99.
