When you think layering, you probably go way back to the days of long johns. They helped when temperatures dropped to obscene levels, sure, but just a little bit of activity or rise in temperature meant you'd be walking in a cramped mess of sweat and uncomfortable cloth for the rest of the day. When you want to enjoy a day on the water in colder conditions, that's unacceptable. Take away the weight and discomfort and keep the heat on with the i2 Lite Long Sleeve T-shirt from Gill. The i2 is one of an assorted list of layering products Gill designed to keep your body at its normal temperature while balancing colder conditions and aerobic activity. It's lightweight, so light you might even forget you put it on, because it doesn't constrain your movements. Yet even when tested during brisk winter temperatures, it retains heat you won't get from a good sweatshirt. When dealing with sweat, even a good jog doesn't faze the wearer - the quick-drying fabric works wonders after exertions. And the design element won't turn you away either. The i2 has a sporty look, like something you could just as easily bring to a weight room or morning jog as on your boat. It's a bit expensive for a layered piece of clothing, but if comfort and results are what you're after, it's worth it. Prices start at $39.95.
